Pick one element — a beam, a retaining wall, a drainage network — and show the load path and code checks (Eurocodes) in plain sequence. Depth on one beats breadth on five.
Tell me about a time the design met reality on site — ground conditions, services, tolerances — and something had to change.
Design-meets-site stories are the currency of civils interviews. Show the site investigation gap, the safe temporary answer, and the formal change that followed.
What do your CDM duties actually change about how you design? Give me a real example of designing out a risk.
One concrete example — designing for buildability at height, maintenance access, lifting weights — proves you treat CDM as design thinking, not paperwork.
Tell me about coordinating your design with architects, contractors or utilities when they wanted different things.
